Survive in Bangkok
Our Guides
We currently have three guides ready to start tours in September. We are all British, and all speak Thai to at least intermediate level. Between us we speak Spanish, French, Chinese and a little Japanese, and obviously English and Thai. So you can see that it will still be the ideal tour if you are not British, simply specify your preferred language from those above and we will try and have the relevant guide available for you.
We would like to highlight the advantage of having western guides - often the guides provided with package holidays speak little English or with a very strong accent. Aside from the actual language, being from the west allows us to offer a perspective point of view on Bangkok. For example things which a Thai would think were a boring part of their daily life can be highlighted by us to deepen your understanding. This affects the nature of the tours, and while we can certainly see some sights, the best tours will be when you ask to see daily Thai life, eat typical Thai food see some markets and learn how to bargain etc.
A Typical two day tour
4pm (or whenever your flight arrives) - We will meet you at the airport, at which point you should have decided on your approximate daily budget. We will help you change money if needed, or find a cash point. We will go together and find accommodation, using taxi or bus depending on your budget.
7pm - After settling into your accommodation you can opt to have an early night, or try and combat the jetlag immediately by staying up. We could eat at some food stalls, see some night markets and we can help you buy any of the things you might need while in Thailand and have not brought from home.
The next day - We can meet whenever specified by you, at your accommodation, and over a food-stall breakfast of fried banana pancakes, plan a tour to include some sights and some authentic experiences. We will use a wide variety of city transport, and all through the tour you can try and pick up some of the most important words in Thai. We will accompany you for the whole day, and you can decide on the night time entertainment or ask for some recommendations.
Bangkok is a chaotic city, and if two or three days is all you're planning there, then let's go together and buy your Bus/train ticket upcountry, or to the islands.
We guarantee that by the end of your second night you will feel more comfortable staying in and getting around in Bangkok.
